Patrick Stanfield Jones

Patrick Stanfield Jones is a guitarist and vocalist, composer and lyricist, arranger and producer. He has shared the stage as a supporting musician with many well known acts, recording artists, and has made T.V. appearances in the U.S , England, Australia and Canada. Patrick has been a touring musician with the Isley Brothers, Whitney Houston, Buddy Miles, the Sylvester Brothers, Kenny Rankin and Taj Mahal. He has also opened for Albert Collins, Hubert Sumlin, War, Eddie Kendricks of the Temptations, Papa John Creach and Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes. Patrick recently has been working on writing music for David Kramer's documentary on Jimi Hendrix, focusing on Jimi's pre-psychedelic years, when he was a sideman for the likes of the Isley Brothers, King Curtis, and Little Richard. "It's like being a character actor that's got to make choices based on the time frame that the role is placed in. American popular music was played differently pre-1967. Amplifiers sounded different, and the drums were played differently as well. That's why I love Dave McMillen's drumming. He knows the older musical languages of Swing and early Rhythm and Blues. The backdrop that much of the later 60's psychedelic music derived their influence from. He has brought a lot to the table on that particular project." Patrick has also spent the last few years playing Acoustic Americana based music with the Hudson Valley's 'Breakneck Ridge Revue' piloted by Pro Publica environmentalist writer Andrew Revkin and NYC School for Visual Arts Chairman David Ross. Both, along with Patrick are part of the American Center For Folk Music, based in Beacon, N.Y. Patrick has also been writing music along with Dave McMillen and Charlie Shew of Ithaca, N.Y., a former drummer for the group Orleans.
Dave, a native of Newburgh NY, is a producer/percussionist/songwriter who began his music career at the age of 6 prodded by his dad Mac, who was a drummer. By the time Dave was 13, he had won several rudimental (Swedish style) drumming competitions around the U.S. including the national championship in 1971. Dave along with his dad wrote all of the drum music for the United States Military Academy's Bag Pipe Band and were key in the bands creation in 1973. Dave's mom Anne Marie noticed that he probably should cross his unique talent over into "traps". She took him once a week for 2 years to Gene Krupa's protege' Roy Anderson's music shop in Wappinger Falls NY where Dave learned how to apply all 26 rudiments to a drum kit. From there Dave went on to attend the Gene Krupa/Cozy Cole drum school in NYC. Because of his love for intricate arrangements that require a wristy flair and improv style, Dave found his place in jazz drumming. Dave joined the musicians union in 1976 and went on to play many jazz rooms in Greenwich Village and Soho. Dave has played and recorded with Gil Paris (Blood Sweat and Tears, Tony Braxton), Steve Geller (Davey Jones), Charlie Shew (Orleans, Robbie Dupree, Todd Rundgren) Bobby Messano (Steve Winwood), The Sixteen String Band, Another Time, DDRoyal, recording engineer, music producer, songwriter, bassist Al Hemberger (The Loft Recording Studio), Robert "Digget" Dermer (Pete Seeger), Tommy Mandel (Bryan Adams, B-52s) cowboy Hall of Fame member Ernie Sites, Grammy winning composer Art Labriola, Patrick Stanfield Jones (the Isley Brothers, Whitney Houston), Corey Glover (Living Color) and Gerardo Velez (Jimi Hendrix). Dave is also excited to join forces with Lisa and John McKenna in their irish band Kid Antrim, which completes the full circle back to his roots in music.

Al Hemberger is a husband, dad, recording engineer, music producer, songwriter, bassist and environmentalist. He lives in Cold Spring or Woodstock with his wife, Hope and their two daughters. Al and his brother Ted own and operate The Loft Recording Studios in Bronxville, NY, which was originally founded in 1968 as a children's Film and Theatre Center. Al wrote songs for twenty shows during his tenure as The Loft's music director. He was always interested in recording and during the eighties the Loft space evolved into three recording studios with supporting offices. The Loft has since hosted hundreds of artists including Rihanna, Richard Shindell, Dave Koz, The Jonas Brothers, Rod Stewart, Donny Osmond, Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, NSync, Taj Mahal, John Hammond, Procol Harum, The Skatellites, and The Average White Band. Al has worked in studios from LA to London to Toronto to Nashville to Barbados. In addition to The Renovators, Al also enjoys playing with many other NY bands and songwriters including Tiki Daddy, Breakneck Ridge, The Costellos, Los Chinese, and Annie and the Natural Wonder Band. Most people do not know that Al is smiling all the time; you just can't see it. Even when he has no beard, his smile barely shows. He is also able take a nap anywhere, on very short notice. Tommy Mandel

Tommy Mandel is a keyboardist whose playing has helped shape some of rock’s most familiar recordings and live shows. A longtime collaborator with Bryan Adams, he brought piano, organ, and synthesizer to Adams’ music, including the albums Cuts Like a Knife and Reckless.
Tommy has also toured with Dire Straits, Ian Hunter and Mick Ronson, John Waite, and Peter Wolf. Born in New York City, he studied music at Bowdoin College and has worked as a composer and musical director for theater. Across the studio, stage, and concert arena, his versatility has made him a sought-after collaborator.
Rango
Percussion
Rango is a lifelong resident of Nyack NY and brings with him over 25 years of percussion experience. Rango is also a member of Sam Waymon's Magic Band and often is heard with the fabulous Frankie D (Diaz) and Eclectic Inc. Rango's percussion influences are Mongo Santamaria and Ralph McDonald. "Rang" as known to the band, has a very unique ability to place the right sound into a musical piece at the perfect time which always makes us all smile when it happens. Percussion adds an undertone to the music which gives it life and Rango is the man that makes it all happen.
Born in Montclair New Jersey, Dave cut his "musical molars" on the Philly music scene. His career has crossed musical genres while working for some of the top names in the business. He has played trumpet for Michael Jackson, The Spinners, The Temptations, The O’Jays, Ben Vereen, Johnny Mathis, Frank Sinatra, Tony Bennett, Steve Lawrence & Edi Gorme, Michel Legrand, Nancy Wilson, Lena Horne, Sammy Davis Jr, Diana Ross, and many others. Dave worked directly with Leonard Bernstein on initial run and break-in Broadway show "1600 Pennsylvania Avenue". He was Principal Trumpet with the Colorado Philharmonic, has worked with the Concerto Soloists of Philadelphia and the Philadelphia Orchestra Brass, and still performs as a classical soloist. Dave plays with 3rdValve Rock, The Jersey Jazz Collective, the Chicago Tribute "Jersey Transit Authority", the Top40 band “Best Day Ever”, and other greater New York area groups. Dave is the founder and General Manager of 3rdValve Productions.

Kent Pennell grew up in Pennsylvania and attended West Chester University, completing a bachelor's degree in Music Education. While at West Chester, he studied trombone with Tyrone Breuninger of the Philadelphia Orchestra. He continued his studies at the University of Illinois and attained his Masters of Music in Composition, studying with internationally acclaimed composers Scott Wyatt and John Melby. Kent began his career as a music teacher in NJ in 1982 and has been a resident since then. He was Band Director at Saddle Brook High School and in 1986 became Director of Bands at Bergenfield High School where he served in that position for 17 years. Under his leadership the Bergenfield High School Marching Band performed on national television, at professional football games, and at several festivals and parades. Kent went on to teach computer and networking technology, music technology and music theory. After 33 years of teaching, Kent is now enjoying retirement and keeps busy playing trombone in several area jazz ensembles, rock bands and even a disco band!

Colin Pohl

Colin Pohl was born in London to musical parents. His mother was a concert pianist. After moving to the U.S. at age 7, Colin learned the clarinet and won a scholarship for best high school musician in Schenectady County. Smitten by the African-American music of the 60’s, he picked up the saxophone in college and played in Jazz and Rhythm and Blues groups before attending the Berklee College of Music in Boston. While in Sierra Leone as a Peace Corps volunteer, Colin played frequently with High-Life bands. Returning to New York to teach high school, he formed a jazz group before joining Sam Waymon, the brother of Nina Simone, in the Sam Waymon Magic Band. He took a year’s sabbatical in 2002 to study Jazz Improvisation at William Paterson University. He created the music program at University Heights High School in the Bronx, where he has organized successful concerts twice a year for the past ten years. His group “Zona” played originals and Latin Jazz in Nyack. He recently played with the talented Patrick Jones at B.B. King’s. He performs frequently in jazz jam sessions in Nyack and Tappan, feels blessed to have played with such authentic and original voices as Sam Waymon and Patrick Jones, and is very excited about his new association with Sangha Tierra.
Laurie Siegel

Laurie Siegel is a performer and songwriter who was born and raised in the Hudson Valley. Nurtured by the Hudson River folk community from a very young age, Laurie and her brother, Peter began singing together at festivals, rallies and events in their early teens. Later, the siblings formed the folk trio, Harmonious Hogchokers along with their fellow Clearwater crew member, Creek Iversen. True to her Hudson Valley folk and activist roots, Laurie is a long time member of the Walkabout Clearwater Chorus. She was a contributing vocalist on Pete Seeger’s grammy winning CD, “Pete at 89.”
Laurie’s most recent endeavor is as 1/4 of the activist folk quartet, Hudson Valley Sally – a group rooted in the tradition of activist folk music and known for their rich harmonic arrangements.
Paula Gans

With a smile on her face, a spring in her step, and a song on her lips, Paula Gans unlocks the potential of every new day. Born in New York City and raised in Bergen County, NJ, Paula discovered her love for singing as a child in church. Over the years, Paula has embraced all styles and genres of music and performed in hundreds of shows across the region – from weddings to parades, concerts to private parties. Paula also enjoys acting and has appeared on stage at many community theaters in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania. She has fronted a number of rock cover bands and recently founded the country cover band Whiskey Rocks. Paula holds a BA in Speech, Theatre and Communications from Cedar Crest College in Allentown, PA. By day, Paula is an X-ray Technologist and is studying for her Radiation Oncology license. She is very excited to be performing in her first show with the band Bag Of Trix.
